Hello!

MY NAME IS DEBORAH

I am 21 year old artist from Allen, TX, and I specialize in charcoal art. I use this medium as the messiness of it drew me into it when I started back in 2017. I am self taught in 90% of what I do, being only taught the absolute basics of the medium and left to my own devices. Techniques and methods are all developed while working on a piece and evolved on over time.

My artwork is in itself a representation of how I wish to portray how I see the world and subjects around me. I shoot for realism; however, I am not after hyper realism. My work aims to be fluid in feeling, changing from piece to piece but retaining cohesion no matter the subject matter and how different they are, to create a viewing experience that guides you on its own. From extreme contrast in values to the eye-catching pop of color, I bring my own self-made techniques with tweaks and changes to each piece to make them feel the as they belong together, while representing many different themes and moods.

Themes and subjects like animals and everyday people to pop culture subjects from all genres and mediums. I create portraits of characters and personalities people know and love, and those not as well known to fuse newer age topics with what is often viewed as an older medium of work. Combining these opposites give me a unique opportunity to bring in lovers of medium and subject to my work when otherwise they may have not. I aim to create textures you could seemingly feel and pieces that look like they are 3 dimensional, from wrinkled and aged skin, feathers and fur layered on itself, to the rigidness of chitin bone mold armor plating. My work honors the subject matter while making it my own by giving it a spin on charcoal as a medium and what people tend to associate it with in most situations.

My work is ever growing, and my catalog is as well. If there's something you wish to see me do (a request for a piece) contact me with your idea, I am always looking to see what people ae interested in seeing.
